Religious and Spiritual Life Organizations

Agnes Scott's Interfaith Council oversees all student religious and spiritual organizations and helps to plan and organize activities on campus. In 2019 the first-ever Interfaith week brought together the many faith traditions and highlighted the beautiful tapestry of their organizations. The chair of the Interfaith Council serves as a senator on the Student Government Association and speaks on behalf of the religious and spiritual needs of students. For more information on the council or how to get started with creating a new organization, contact Rev. Whitney Booth Lockard at wboothlockard@gzfyly.com.

Our purpose is to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for Jewish students, to celebrate culture, tradition, and religious practice, regardless of sectarian affiliation. Our objective is to foster fellowship among the Jewish student body, as well as to provide educational and cultural experiences for the wider ASC community and those who are Jew-curious.

Our mission to keep the legacy of Jewish faith, culture, and identity alive and thriving at Agnes Scott College; while providing a Jewish home away from home.

Aims include extending Jewish education and cultural events in collaboration with campus clubs and organizations; community congregations/Jewish organizations; in order to maintain vibrant Jewish life on campus.

The Muslim Students' Association works to build awareness about Islam and Muslims in the Agnes Scott community. The MSA invites all students to join the club and its effort to bring unity and understanding about the religion of Islam, Muslims, and the political situation of many of the Islamic countries. The MSA has a prayer room for all Muslim students on the third floor of the Alston Campus Center.
Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold…Selah is a non-denominational Christian organization and community that uplifts the Rock, Jesus Christ. While Selah has two meanings in Hebrew, we are using the Selah that means “The Rock”. God is our rock and foundation. Thus, Selah is anointed by the Holy Spirit to create a supportive community and kingdom network to share the Gospel of Jesus and reach souls through evangelism and teaching. Additionally, we aspire to create a safe place for God’s people to gather, encourage and restore each other, by fellowship, and praying for one another during their Christian walk. While we primarily cater to women, ALL God’s children are welcome.
Selah is not a religious organization, but a relationship organization - meaning that we do not add barriers or rituals that would prevent one from following God alone. We are an assembly that follows the Bible, God’s Word, carefully. Come as you are; ALL who seek to be created new through Jesus Christ:
2 Corinthians 5:17-19 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation”
The purpose of U3 is to promote unity and unbiased understanding among peers by creating a judgment-free and safe space of inclusivity. The mission statement of U3 is Understanding Unbiased Unity.
The Presbyterian church is the foundation of Agnes Scott College and the student ministry is Ukirk. The organization meets weekly for lunch and works closely with Decatur Presbyterian Church for special events and Sunday services.
